It was back on 10 September 1965 that Hector Pepin (now deceased) and his wife Solange Pepin (parents of Louise Pepin, current co-owner with André Scheffer) acquired Motel Idéal in Ste-Rose iwhich included 11 rooms and 4 cabins. As the business grew, new units were gradually added to existing properties. Today, Motel Idéal Ste-Rose boasts a total of 74 rooms and suites.
In 1975, the couple acquired Motel Deluxe in Pont-Viau, Laval. Following an ambitious renovation program, the new 54 roooms property quickly proved a sensational success.
In 1978, the Pepin family decided to expand into other sectors of the Greater Montréal area, beginning with Motel St-Hubert. Motel St‑Basile and Motel Cadillac (Sherbrooke Street East) followed in 1982. Then came Motel Le Cavalier on St-Jacques West Street in 1985 and Hotel La Barre in Longueuil in 1990.
For strategic reasons linked to choices made by family shareholders, the latter five properties no longer form a part of the Motel Idéal chain.
In 1987, Motel Idéal Group acquired Motel Attaché on Lajeunesse Street in Montréal. The outdated, 84-room facility was completely transformed and today features a total of 68 rooms and suites with a decidedly contemporary look and feel.
The company currently owns and operates a network of three Motel Idéal establishments. The mission of each is to meet the needs of regional and business clients, as well as visitors to the Greater Montréal area.
All three properties bear the same Motel Idéal name.
